Richard Augustus Stoddard, a native of West Simsbury, CT passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023 at UCONN Medical Center in Farmington, CT. Richard was born November 23,1934 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late George Stoddard and Estella Odell Stoddard.

Richard attended the UCONN Agricultural School in the 50's and returned to Simsbury to work for Wagner Ford as Manager in the Parts Department for over 30 years. He was an avid gardener, having been raised on his family's farm where he resided. His flower gardens and container grown vegetables were the envy of many in town. His other passions included BMW and antique motorcycles, racing cars, traveling, photography, collecting antiques and genealogy. He was very proud of his New England heritage and resided in his family 1783 home.

Richard is survived by his devoted wife Donna Hughes Stoddard and his faithful Newfoundland dog, Asa. Also, his niece Nancy Morand of Durham, CT, Virginia Morand of South Carolina and his great niece and nephews. Donna Lindecamp (Darryl), Michael (Carola) Morand and Col. Matthew Morand (Kimberly), Brenton Southwick of Nevada, Collette Fifield and Monique Bedard.

Richard was predeceased by his sisters, Vera Adams Morand and Jean Stoddard, his twin brother, Ralph Stoddard and his nephews Col. Leon F. Morand III, and William Alan Southwick.

Calling hours will be held at Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Thursday, February 9th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 10th. Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery, with a reception to follow.
