Obituary for Thomas Mark Butler

Thomas Mark Butler, 67, of Simsbury, beloved husband of Linda A. (Collins) Butler, died Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Hartford Hospital after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born March 11, 1955 in Melrose, MA, son of the late Edward A. and Anne T. (Doherty) Butler and had lived in Nashua, NH prior to moving to Simsbury 29 years ago. Tom was a graduate of Northeastern University, Class of 1978, and received his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. Butler was a Corporate Security Administrator for Aetna for many years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed football, especially the New England Patriots, photography, listening to music and cooking. Tom enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and birdwatching and most of all loved to vacation with his family in Chatham, MA and Boothbay Harbor, ME, always scouting out the best lobster rolls.

In addition to his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 45 years, he is survived by his two sons, Mark Butler of Simsbury and Kevin Butler of Melrose, MA; his brother, Stephen Butler and wife Rebecca of Bourne, MA; his sisters, Karen Kelly and husband Mike of Foxboro, MA, Ellen Vaitkunas and husband Vic of Milford, MA and Susan Butler and partner Phyllis Murphy of Wells, ME and many much loved nieces, nephews and friends.

Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Friday, February 17th from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral will be Saturday, February 18th, 9:45 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road in Avon. Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery.
