Ruth (Kovacs) Hutchings, 85, of Canton, wife of the late Richard E. Hutchings, died Monday, February 20, 2023 at Geer in Canaan. She was born December 7, 1937 in Torrington, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Bodnar) Kovacs and had lived Canton most of her life. She was a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, having received her Bachelors Degree . Mrs. Hutchings was a Registered Radiologic Technologist for many years prior to her retirement. Ruth was a long time member of the Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon. She enjoyed local and international travel, especially Italy. Her favorite past time was enjoying company on her porch.

She is survived by her son, Richard F. Hutchings and wife Maureen Halloran Hutchings of Canton; her daughter, Virginia Hutchings Messler and husband Mark of Buda Texas, her grand children Ashlyn R. Messler and Connor Messler, her sister, Dorothy Foley , nephew Patrick Foley and his wife Lori of Cannan her great nephews, great niece and granddaughter in law Tiffany Frenette. Her beloved dog Sammy. Her dear friends Marilyn, Donna, Holly, Bob and Maria Deming, Kobe, her friends from Bible study. She was predeceased by her husband Richard E. Hutchings and teenage daughter, Judith Ann Hutchings.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 24 th at the Village Cemetery, Cemetery Road in Collinsville. Donations in her memory may be made to American Cancer Society or to Dog Star Rescue.
