Obituary for Gerald Shanley

Gerald R. Shanley “Jerry” of Weatogue, Connecticut lived 87 free-spirited years. His family was his purpose and he passed away peacefully in their full and loving presence on March 29, 2023.

Meigs Point, bowling, camping, snowmobiling, dancing, cards and cocktails, repurposing, collecting treasures, unique fixes…nothing a little WD-40 and grey tape couldn’t fix, nature walks, bike rides, rooting for his grandkids in every sport, bathing in the sun, unique style, feeding the birds, one liners, Celtics basketball - all a life well lived!

Jerry lived a passionate life marrying Lolly, October 5th, 1957, 66 years of marriage. They went on to raise 5 children Marybeth, Mark, Maureen (Tom Grote), Laurie (Bill Magnan), and Jill in Weatogue, Connecticut. Son of the late Bernard and Charlotte (Klapprodt) Shanley. He is survived by his three siblings Bernard (Mary Lou), Sister Mary, and Joan (John Zerlois). His legacy also includes 12 wonderful grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jerry was one-of-a-kind. As he would say, “… it’s not goodbye, it’s see ya!”

A celebration of life announced at a later date. Please visit Jerry’s book of memories at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online tribute.
