Obituary for Jonathan Baptiste Festa

Jonathan Festa, 76, of Canton, beloved husband of Sandra Festa, died Thursday, April 20, 2023 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. He was born March 20, 1947 in Hartford, son of the late John Baptiste and Helen (Dinney) Festa and had been a life long resident of Canton. Jon was a graduate of Northeastern University, having received his B.A. in Fine Arts and Architecture and an MBA in Business Administration, Marketing and Sociology at the University of Connecticut. Jon was a Business Developer for PDS Engineering and Construction in Bloomfield. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Avon-Canton. Achievements included former Board of Directors at the Hartford Chamber Orchestra, past fundraising solicitor for the Greater Hartford Arts Council, past fundraiser for the Farmington Valley YMCA, former member of the Board of Directors for the Farmington Valley Arts Center and Co-Founder of the Baroque Music Society of Avon. In addition to his love of horticulture and the fine arts, he also enjoyed golf and hiking.

Predeceased family included his sons, Duncan and Ewen Ross, his parents, John and Helen and sister, Jacqueline. In addition to his loving wife of 44 years, he is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Griffiths and husband, Keith, of Scotland; his son, Alistair Ross and wife, Theresa of Windsor; his daughter-in-law, Carol Ross (wife of his late son, Duncan Ross); his daughter-in-law, Lisa Salinetti Ross (wife of his late son, Ewen Ross); his grandchildren, Tom Griffiths, Sam Griffiths, Joe Griffiths, Kevin Ross, Iain Ross, Katie Ross, Elizabeth “Ellie” Ross and Tyler Ross; his great grandchildren, Bena and Georgie Griffiths and Balfour Ross and his brother-in-law, Robert Biega and many much loved cousins.

Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Wednesday, April 26th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Visitation will close with a memorial service in celebration of his life at 7:00 PM.
