Obituary for Kathleen Coffey

Kathleen “Kay” Coffey, of Simsbury, CT, born in Hartford, CT on January 9, 1928, born to Thomas Horan and Katherine (O’Connell) Horan, widow of Frank J. Coffey. Kay was a long time parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury, CT. She graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy and supervised the printing department at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center for many years. She was an active member and past president of the St. Francis Retirees Club. She served on the Simsbury Housing Authority, Board of Commissioners as Resident Commissioner for many years.

She will be dearly missed by her children: Kathy and Bill Carey of Boca Raton, FL; Tom and Sandy Coffey of Lighthouse Point, FL; James Coffey of Spokane, WA; Bernard Coffey of Dover, NH; Peg and Bob Coffey Fiore of Newington, CT; Dann and Julie Coffey of Iowa City, IA; her grandchildren, Christopher and Kaila Coffey of Rochester, NH; Dan Coffey and Stephanie Eastman of Milton, NH; Molly and Dan Cyr of New Hartford, CT; Michael and Juleah Koltuniak of Winsted, CT; Lauren Coffey, MD, and Adam Fajnor of Milwaukee, WI; Kieran Coffey of Iowa City, IA, Alison Coffey and Kevin Wolfrom of Ft. Myers, FL . She leaves her great-grandchildren, Koda Coffey, Millie Koltuniak and Layla Coffey. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Greg Koltuniak, her grandson, Andrew Coffey, her brother, Kieran Horan and her sister, Mary Meade. She leaves her sister-in-law and friend, Jean Gronda, of Manchester, CT. She leaves nieces Chris Meade, Sheila Horan, Pam Horan Kates and many other nieces and nephews of the Gronda, Casey and Joy families.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 9th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Funeral will be Wednesday, May 10th, 9:15 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery.
