Obituary for Benedict Joseph Giese

Benedict Joseph Giese, a beloved father, Opa, husband, and brother, passed away on May 12, 2023, at the age of 69. Born on August 20, 1953, in Chicago, IL, he spent most of his childhood in Vienna before moving to California with his sister Claudia in 1973.

Ben was a graduate of Santa Clara University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History. He went on to pursue a successful career in architecture.

Ben loved outdoor adventures. He spent countless hours hiking, fishing, and camping with his family, sharing his knowledge and love of the wilderness with those around him. Ben loved sitting by the campfire with his sons, sharing stories and making memories. He had an extraordinary talent for painting watercolors and loved spending time flying his remote control airplanes and creating beautiful music on his guitar.

He was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his wife, Monique, his three sons, Barret, Jeremy, and Elliot and his two stepchildren, Jessica Monahan and Gary Bolduc. Ben shared a close bond with his three sisters, Claudia Giese, Sarah Giese, and Erika Stever who all loved him dearly. Sadly, his sister Claudia passed away just a few days before he did.

Ben’s nine grandchildren, Declan, Casey, Charlotte, Julien, Carter, Alison, Eleanor, Anthony, and Lily were the light of his life. He treasured every moment spent with them and was the world’s best Opa.

Benedict Giese will be remembered for his kind soul, his sense of humor, his passion for art and aviation, and most importantly, his love for his family. His legacy will live on through the memories he leaves behind with those who knew and loved him.
