Obituary for Elizabeth A. Walsh

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” (Findlen) Walsh, 87, of Fairfield, wife of the late Frank Walsh, died Monday, August 14, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Center in Trumbull. She was born December 22, 1935 in Fort Fairfield, ME, daughter of the late Thomas and Arlene (Cyr) Findlen and had lived in Simsbury for over 50 years prior to moving to Fairfield to be closer to family. Liz was a graduate of Emerson College in Boston and was later awarded her master’s degree in Speech Pathology from Southern Connecticut State University. She was a Speech Pathologist in the Simsbury School System for many years prior to her retirement, working with kids ranging from elementary school through high school. She was also a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association. Liz enjoyed a snazzy wardrobe, a good glass of wine or two, reading, entertaining, travel and beachcombing. She loved to cook as well, and she made the most amazing lasagna - a neat trick for a farm girl from potato country in far Northern Maine. Most of all, Liz loved to spend time with her family, especially her 3 grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Steven Walsh and wife Denise of Fairfield; her sister, Kay Freeman and husband Greg of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, Mallory Walsh of Austin, TX, Leah Walsh of Boston, MA and Logan Walsh of Boston, MA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Jerry Findlen.

Visitation will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Friday, August 25th from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM at. St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd. S, #4B, Southington, CT 06489.
