Obituary for Carolyn Boswell

Carolyn (Sandell) Boswell, 83, of Farmington, beloved wife of the late Bernard John “Bill” Boswell, died Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the Station in Farmington. She was born July 11, 1940, in Hartford, daughter of the late Gunnar Waldemar and Elsie (Erickson) Sandell and had been a lifelong resident of Connecticut. She had attended Dean Junior College, receiving her associate degree. Mrs. Boswell was the Office Manager for Pontiac Center in West Hartford for many years prior to her retirement. Carolyn was Sunday school teacher in her younger days an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Avon, a community she loved dearly. She enjoyed spending time volunteering and doing charity work. She participated in mentoring programs for girls in Farmington, loved her time working in the FAVARH thrift shop and always volunteered to work the polls in local elections. Her Red Hat Society friends were always a source of joy, and she loved her friends at the Farmington Senior Center and enjoyed fun times playing Mahjong and going on tours.

Carolyn loved spending time with her family most of all. Whether it be at the family farm in Vermont with her beloved Uncles and cousins or a night out a show with her brother, a birthday party for her grandchildren or a treasured weekend in Maine with Bill, these were the moments that made her smile the most.

She is survived by her sons, Steven Boswell and wife Kristine of Simsbury, Mark Boswell and wife Sally of Plainville and Eric Boswell and wife Jessica of Burlington; her brother, John Sandell, and wife MaryJane of Simsbury; her grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas, Wyatt, Bennett, Evangeline and Jaclyn and many cousins near and far.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 25th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. Funeral service will be at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 224 Lovely Street in Avon at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 26th with burial to follow in Village Cemetery in Collinsville.
