Obituary for Mary Zapp
Mary C. (Dais) Zapp, 83, of West Simsbury, beloved wife of the late Dennis G. Zapp,
died Saturday, November 11, 2023 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. She was
born June 2, 1940, in Fond Du Lac, WI, daughter of the late John and Mary Jane
(Crangle) Dais and had lived in Enfield prior to moving to West Simsbury over 40 years
ago. Mary was a graduate of Alverno College Class of 1962, having received her Bachelor Degree in Nursing. Mrs. Zapp was a Registered Nurse with Caring Nurses for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in West Simsbury. Mary was an avid bridge player and member of the St. Mary’s Bridge League.
She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Kowalczyk of Ankeny, IA; her son, Michael Zapp of Simsbury; her siblings, Nancy Schumacher of Surprise, Arizona, her brother, Joe Dais of Green Bay, WI; her grandchildren, Michael Zapp, Hallie Zapp, Allison Kowalczyk and Andrea Mosby and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, James C. Zapp.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 2 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury. Inurnment will follow in the Sycamore Mausoleum at Simsbury Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Village for Families and Children, 1680 Albany Avenue, Hartford, CT 06105.
