Obituary for Ann Bremner

Ann Arline (Joumas) Bremner, 99, of Simsbury, CT, wife of the late Rae Chester Bremner, died Monday morning, January 29, 2024 with her loving daughter by her side. She was born August 31, 1924 in Bay City, MI, daughter of the late James Joseph and Mary (Wager) Joumas. In 1965, she together with her family, left Detroit, MI when her husband Rae was transferred to Hartford, and the family settled in Simsbury where she remained for over 60 years. She was the school secretary at Saint Mary School in Simsbury for over 30 years, thoroughly enjoying working with the children, staff and parents. Ann was awarded the National Catholic School Secretary Award in Philadelphia, PA in April of 1979. She was an active member of Saint Mary Church serving on various committees throughout the years. Ann loved traveling and with her husband Rae, sister Alice and brother in law Ron and visited multiple counties across the globe.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bremner of Simsbury; her niece, Catherine Tamm and husband Robert of Romeo, MI; great nephews, Patrick Tamm of Armada, MI, Andrew Tamm of Romeo, MI, Christopher Tamm of Romeo, MI, Matthew Tamm and wife Kathryn of Clinton Twp, MI and Rev. Thomas Tamm of Ridgefield, CT ; her great great nephew, Oliver Tamm of Clinton Twp and her family of the heart, John, Jennifer and Kathleen O’Toole of Torrington. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Paul D. Bremner; her brother, George Joumas and sisters, Alice Winkel and Lois Dunfee.

The family would like to thank the staff of Pansy Home Health Care, Interim Health Care and Trinity Health New England for the care and kindness they provided to Ann.

Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Sunday, February 4th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral will be Monday, February 5th, 9:15 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St Mary’s Church in Simsbury. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Tariffville. Donation in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s School, 946 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT 06070.
