Obituary for Gloria Cecile Rose

Gloria Fortin Rose of Simsbury, CT, beloved wife of the late William J. Rose, died peacefully at McLean Home on February 5, 2024. Gloria was born on January 26, 1936, in Waterville ME, daughter of Bernadette (Pellerin) and Anthony Fortin. She was the fourth of eight children. Gloria was an avid athlete and loved to play and spectate many sports, most notably golf and UConn Women’s Basketball. She also enjoyed daily walks and reading in her spare time. Her summers were spent by the water at her cherished Highland Lake home, entertaining family and friends. Gloria loved adventure and traveled extensively around the world. She was a gifted storyteller and was able to amuse her audience with many wonderful stories of younger years. Gloria was an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

Gloria leaves her three sons and her four grandchildren (the lights of her life): James Rose and his wife Karen (Silano) Rose of Simsbury, CT and their son William (Billy); Peter Rose and his wife Paula (Niosi) Rose of Simsbury, CT and his daughters Julia and Elena; and Andrew Rose of Canton, CT and his son Anthony (Tony).

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 16th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 17th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery.
