Philip J. DeSouza
Philip J. DeSouza, 78, of Canton, beloved husband of Rosemary A. (Goralski) DeSouza, passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at CherryBrook Health Care Center in Canton. He was born May 24, 1937 in Hartford, son of the late Manuel L. and Edna Ogna (St. Jean) Stewart and had been a longtime resident of Avon. He served in the U.S. Air Force having been honorably discharged in 1960. Mr. DeSouza was employed by White Oak Construction and by Tomasso Construction for many years prior to his retirement. Philip enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, trips to Maine, Collecting walking sticks/Canes and trips to the diner in New Hartford. Besides his loving wife of 48 years, he is survived by his son, Larry and his wife Irene of Canton, his daughter, Bonnie of Canton, his son Barry and his wife Kirstin of Simsbury, and son Gary and his wife Mary of Canton; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Travis, JJ, Barbara and her husband Jimmy, Samantha and her husband Patrick, Tatum, Beckett and Melissa and her husband Brian; his great granddaughters, Kathleen, Madisyn, Vivian and Genevieve; his sister, Margaret and her husband Henry and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by three siblings, Albert, Rita and Eva. A funeral service will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Monday, November 9th at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery in Avon.
