Obituary for Tucker Hunn Warner

Tucker Hunn Warner, age 84, beloved husband, admired father, treasured grandfather and loyal friend passed away peacefully on April 30, 2016 at his home in West Hartford, CT with family by his side. He was the son of the late Alden Y and Caroline Hunn Warner of Farmington, CT where he grew up. Family was always most important to him with cousins galore who were nearby and best friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Joan (McCance), the only love of his life, his son Tucker Jr. and wife Eileen, son David and wife Elizabeth, daughter Caroline, grandchildren Tucker III, Brice, Griffin, Cooper, Ella and Ginger, and brothers Alden and wife Anne, Seth and wife Virginia and several nephews and nieces. He was pre-deceased by brothers Jonathan and Bruce. Tucker attended Hotchkiss School, a proud member of the class of 1949, and went on to Yale University where he graduated in 1955. Later he attended the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management at Dartmouth College, and for 10 years taught at the School of Banking at Williams College. He was a well-known and respected banker for 21 years with Hartford National Bank and Trust Co. He started his career in banking during his college years and joined the bank full-time as a credit analyst in 1955. He later became Senior Exec. VP of Hartford National Corp. heading the CT Division until 1976. After leaving the bank, he became a consultant working with small privately held companies on finance, succession planning and organizational management. Over the years he served on many corporate boards and helped a number of non-profit entities including Church Homes, giving back to the community he so loved. He was a member and past President of The Old Guard, Inc. Tucker had a contagious love for life and for the people with whom he shared it. He was an accomplished and competitive golfer, an avid fly fisherman and spent many happy hours working on his yard and garden beds. He always enjoyed his weekly bridge games. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bruce B Warner Fund at Hotchkiss School or Quimby Country. Vincent Funeral Homes is assisting with arrangements.
