Phyllis Ada "Nana" (Young) Ward, 94, of Canton, wife of the late Walter John Ward, died Friday, February 3, 2017 at Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton. She was born January 20, 1923 in Warren, ME, daughter of the late Lester and Mattie Mae (Eugley) Young and had lived in Canton for the past 70 years. Mrs. Ward was a Machinist at P & WA Aircraft for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Collinsville Congregational Church and had enjoyed birdwatching, reading, cooking, knitting, sewing, gardening and playing with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Gay Ann Ward Markkanen and her husband Seppo of North Canton; her grandsons, Tyler J. Markkanen and Christian W. Markkanen, his wife, Julie, and her great-grandchildren, Miika, Nikolai, Annika and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Lester and Arthur Young.

There are no calling hours. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 11th at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. Private burial will be at the North Canton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Collinsville Congregational Church, 7 South Street, Collinsville, CT 06022.
