Mary Lou MacPherson
Mary Louise (Stanley) MacPherson, of Pine Meadow, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017. She was born May 21, 1932 at Englewood, NJ, daughter of the late George Wilkinson and Ruth (Taggart) Stanley. She was a graduate of Leonia High School, Class of 1950. She performed some modeling and attended Larson College, Hamden, CT, in 1951. Involved in charitable works, she was honored while a Merchandising major at Endicott Junior College, Beverly, MA, graduating in 1952. On June 26, 1954 she married James Halbert MacPherson, II, and the two enjoyed a loving relationship of over 59 years until his passing in 2013. Mary Lou had worked at Calico Corners fabric store in Avon, the Valley Pharmacy and Four Seasons Sunrooms in Canton, making many long lasting friendships over the years. Mary Lou cherished her family and always loved to be with them all for any occasion. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, countryside drives, vacations by water, bird watching, crossword, scrabble, bridge and bowling, in her younger years she enjoyed horseback riding, archery, ice skating and skiing.
Beloved mother of four, grandmother of six and great grandmother of four, she is survived by her children, Kent MacPherson and his wife Mary, Emily Ottavi and her husband Chip Davis, Bruce MacPherson and Stuart MacPherson; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Erin, Meghan, A.J., Anne and James; her great grandsons, Logan, Calvin, Zephaniah and Julian and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia Ruth “Jynny” Stanley and cousins, Erna Mae Titus and Elizabeth Baldwin “Betty” Wadsworth Brown Swartz.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to her pleasant and helpful daily companions from Foothills Visiting Nurse and Home Care and the Meals On Wheels Organization.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Vincent Funeral Home of Canton is caring for arrangements.
