She was born October 12, 1930 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Leonard Alvin and Bessie (Beach) Dickinson. She grew up in Litchfield, raised her children in Simsbury, moved to Canton for a time, and lived in Niantic for many years prior to moving to Avon eight years ago.
Betsy is survived by her three children, W. Scott Dinan and his wife Jeanmarie of Lenox, MA, Terry L. (Rufo) Dinan of Unionville and Mark D. Dinan and his significant other, Claudia Barbuto of Wethersfield; two sisters, Lenore D. Skilton of Derry, NH and Roberta D. Hanson of Stoney Creek; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her ex-husband, Philip H. Dinan; her second husband, Walter C. (Bud) Rice, Jr., and two sisters, Bernice Fuessenich and Dorothy Cromwell.
Betsy was a typesetter for many years and retired as an Executive Assistant from The Travelers. She loved researching genealogy, playing piano, and time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betsy was a member of the Niantic Yacht Club, and for many years, she and her husband Bud were dealers of antique postcards and attended shows throughout New England.
There are no calling hours. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 6th, at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Tpke. in Canton. Burial will follow in the Village Cemetery, 11 Cemetery Road, Collinsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
