Obituary for Manuel Abaro Villaverde

Manuel Abaro  Villaverde
Manuel Abaro Villaverde, 82, of Simsbury, CT, beloved husband of Catherine Lucille (Gallahan) Villaverde, died Friday, May 8, 2015 at Touchpoints in Farmington. He was born August 14, 1932 in Tayabas, Quezon Province, Luzon, Philippines and had lived in St. Clairsville, Ohio prior to moving to Simsbury. He was a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines where he received his Doctorate Degree in Medicine. At the age of 24, he came to the United States as part of an exchange visitors program. He went on to complete his residency in general medicine in the US and attained a degree in Forensic Pathology from Harvard. He spent the last 31 years of his working career as a doctor of pathology, Director of Laboratories for Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glendale, WV. He also served as the Belmont County Corner and Ohio County Corner. Manuel was a long time member of St. Mary Church in St. Clairsville, the Tri-State Filipino Medical Association and the Rotary Club. Manuel also served as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves for the 339th General Hospital Reserve Unit, Pittsburgh PA. We meant to add that he loved to play poker and majong

Besides his loving wife of 48 years, he is survived by his children, Manuel (Dean) Villaverde of Ranchos Palos Verdes, California, Angela Bautista and her husband, Godofredo Bautista of Simsbury, Connecticut, Danielle Villaverde Shultz of Oxford, Maryland, Ramon Villaverde and his wife, Priya Bapodra of Columbus, Ohio and Nicole Howe and her husband, James Howe of Superior, Colorado; his grandchildren, Emily, Ethan and Julia Bautista, Camden and Rory Schultz and Calvin and Dylan Howe. He was predeceased in death by his siblings Glicerio (Syong) and Rosing and his parents Filemon and Julita (Abaro) Villaverde.

He will be remembered for his love of cars, tennis, action movies, cowboy boots, country music, food, his generosity towards his family and friends and always being the life of the party.

There are no calling hours and services will be private. A celebration of life gathering will be held summer 2016 in Wheeling, WV.
