Obituary for Angela "Pat" Paquette (Cafazzo)

After a life-time of bringing much happiness to others, Angela “Pat” (Cafazzo) Paquette passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital, under the care of Hospice and in the warm embrace of family and friends. Pat was 92 years young. Pat was a living legacy to her mother, Carmela (Bartone) Sterzing, and her step-father, George H. Sterzing, whom she affectionately spoke of daily. And she never tired of sharing colorful memories about her six brothers and sisters. Pat was born in Hartford on June 27, 1923. She is a retired employee of the Travelers Insurance Company Group Underwriting Department. While Simsbury remained her home, she very much enjoyed “road trips” to Cape Cod and other destinations outside her cherished Nutmeg State. Her final journey will take her back into the arms of her beloved Robert F. “Buddy” Paquette. Theirs was a love story for the ages. Pat is survived by her brother, Joseph Cafazzo of West Yarmouth, MA, many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her loving and dear friends, David and Rose Sottile. Pat will be forever remembered for her twinkling eyes, her beautiful laugh, her adventurous spirit, and her humble heart. Everyone who knew her had a story (or ten) that reflected her love of family and her devotion to nature. Her gracious hospitality was legendary, and she welcomed both people and critters to dine at her house. She also spent years volunteering at many charities that were close to her heart. Pat possessed the uncanny gift to make every person who knew her feel special and appreciated. When you were in her presence, she focused her attention totally on you. Her compassion and empathy for all creatures, great and small, were extraordinary. Calling hours are at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Thursday, February 11th from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. Interment will be in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. But more than anything, Pat has asked that you share love and laughter with your family and friends and that you pray for peace. Please visit Pat’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online condolences.
