Kenneth James Kelly, 84, of West Simsbury, beloved husband of Eleanor (LaMonica) Kelly, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Avon Health Center. He was born April 24, 1932 in Bridgeport, son of the late George Edward and Norma (Sapelli) Kelly and had lived in the area for the past 56 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army Security Division in Germany. Ken was a graduate of University of Bridgeport where he earned his BA and received his JD from the University of Connecticut Law School. Mr. Kelly was employed at the Harford Steam Boiler Inspection & Insurance Company for many years, retiring as Senior Vice President and General Counsel in 1993. He was a member of West Avon Congregational Church, the American Bar Association and former President of the Simsbury Little League. He enjoyed reading, running, swimming, walking, antiquing, traveling, and chocolate cake. But his greatest joy in life came from being with his family, especially during the many summers on Lobster Pot Hill in Truro.
Besides his wife of 56 years, he is survived by his three sons, Kevin Kelly and his wife Julie of Old Greenwich, David Kelly and his wife Anna of West New York, NJ and Jeffrey Kelly and his wife Wendy of West Simsbury; his grandchildren, Colin and Jennifer Kelly, Colette, Julian and Josephine Kelly and Nicholas and Amanda Kelly, his sister Norma and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, George E. Kelly, Jr. and his sister, Joan Kelly Jarosik. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 11th at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. The family will receive friends prior, from 9:30 AM to 11 AM. There will a private burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd S #4b, Southington, CT 06489.
