Connie V. DiBella, 90, of Avon, beloved husband of 54 years to the late John Romaniello, died May 17, 2021 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. He was born June 21, 1930 in Hartford, son of the late Dominic and Jennie (D’Alessio) DiBella and had lived in Hartford, prior to moving to Avon over 50 years ago. After he retired from Shailer Advertising as a Commercial Graphic Designer, he started his second career (which fed his passion for shopping to get the best deals) at Marshalls in Avon. Outside of work, he loved to entertain family and friends with lavish dinner parties (where no one ate off paper plates or with plastic utensils) and summer pool parties. The gate was always open for anyone to take a dip in the pool.
Connie was predeceased by his siblings, Andrew DiBella, Minni Markette, Christine Carrozzella, Roccianna “Roxy” Sedor, Angie Bovino, Anna Borcynski and Donato DiBella. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Throughout the years, Connie and John were loved by their four-legged family members (who were treated like royalty) and they leave behind their 9-year-old chocolate labs, Maggie and Simon.
It took a village to help Connie continue living once John succumbed to cancer in June 2019. Thank you to all the friends who supported him, unconditionally, especially the Brentwood Drive & Craigmore Circle gang; Jules Poirier, Amy Barton, Bobby Lombardo, Don Carrozzella (his nephew), Jeff Dawson, Annette Byrne Paiva, and many others who were “hardy” enough to handle Connie. Feel lucky if Connie told you to “screw off” at least once in his lifetime. More than once, you were loved! Chooch was one of a kind, he’ll be missed!
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 26th from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road in Avon. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
