Anthony E. “Tony” Giannini, 97, of Simsbury, husband of the late Louise (Walcofsky) Giannini, died Saturday, July 10, 2021 at his home. He was born November 25, 1923 in Springfield, MA, son of the late Pasquale and Rose (Apruzzese) Giannini and had lived in Simsbury for over 75 years. Tony attended Commerce High School in Springfield, MA and received his Associates Degree from Morse Business College. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Giannini was a Corporate Auditor for the Kaman Corp for 37 years prior to his retirement. He was a 4th Degree Knight and member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop John J. Nilan Council No. 2558 in Simsbury. Tony was also a member of St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury, the Geritol Swingers, the Simsbury Codgers, UNICO and the Simsbury VFW Post 1926. He volunteered at UCONN Medical Center in Farmington for over 20 years, was active with the Seniors of Simsbury and volunteered at Simsbury Town Hall. Most of all, Tony enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting activities.
He is survived by his son, Mark Giannini and wife Mary Ellen of Lovettsville, VA; three daughters, Elaine Giannini of Simsbury, Susan Slifkin and husband Norman of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Nancy Sieller and husband James of Torrington; six grandchildren, Matthew Slifkin and his wife Kristy, Richard Slifkin and his wife Michelle Bova, Lauren Giannini, Nikolaus Giannini, Steven Sieller and his wife Summer and William Sieller and his wife Maura; his great grandchildren, Claire and Jack Sieller, Layla and Marissa Sieller, Matthew Slifkin, Jr. and Leonardo and Joseph Repyneck, a sister Eva Perrone, Jupiter, FL, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Isabelle Dascanio and Marion Tranghese.
Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury, on Wednesday, July 21st from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury.
