Mary Baio McCuin, 83, of Farmington, wife of the late David Michael McCuin, died peacefully March 5, 2021. She was born September 23, 1937 in Hartford, daughter of the late Salvatore and Assunta (Pezzulo) Baio.

She was a 1956 graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford, and began her career with Connecticut General Insurance in Bloomfield, advancing to become an underwriter.

Mary continued with CG Insurance until 1969, when she and her husband Dave, started their family on Case Road, Burlington, where she remained for over 50 years prior to moving to Farmington in 2019.

As an at-home Mom and homemaker of three young children, Mary was actively involved with her children’s academic, religious, social and sports activities. She coached softball, was a Girl Scout leader, and taught CCD. She and Dave were active members in the Men’s and Women’s Clubs in Burlington for many years.

Mary returned to the workforce in 1982, and spent over 30 years as the Office Manager of University Health Professionals Union Local 3837 in Farmington. She loved her position and worked until she was in her late seventies. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville and was a Notary Public. Mary enjoyed shopping, cooking, computers, watching movies at home, and traveling. Her grandkids can recall Nonnie’s sweet tooth and her never-ending stash of goodies! She was always ready to defend those who she felt were being mistreated. Mary will be remembered for her charisma, her love of animals, her quick wit, her sense of humor, and her willingness to give advice.

Mary is survived by her three children, Kelly McCuin-Kelly and her husband Michael of Danbury, Tracy McCuin Wennberg and her husband Douglas of New Hartford, and her son Michael McCuin and his wife Edyta of Wethersfield. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Elisabeth and Evelyne Kelly, Evan and Liliahna Beaman and Wesley Wennberg, and Annika and Kaeden McCuin. Mary is also survived by her brother, Anthony Baio and his wife Vilma, her sister-in-law, Gaye Baio, her sister-in-law, Barbara Baio, her brother-in-law Jon Peter McCuin, and her brother-in-law Stephen McCuin, and his wife Dale. Mary adored the many nieces and nephews she had, and she will be fondly remembered by them for the backyard parties she and Dave hosted at their Burlington home for many years. She is predeceased by her siblings, Angelo, Frank, Michael, James, and Dominic Baio, her sisters-in-law Geraldine Rusin McCuin, Kathleen McCuin-Gonzales, Monica McCuin Munz, and Jan McCuin Boinay, and her brother-in-law Kermit McCuin, Jr.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, March 19th from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 20 Albany Turnpike in Canton. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00am on Saturday, March 20th followed by burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Burlington. Vincent Funeral Home follows safe COVID19 protocol with masks required, social distance and limited people allowed indoors to ensure safety. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital . Please visit Mary’s “Book of Memories” at for online tributes.
